==== Turnitin Plagiarism Checking Service Settings ==== == Configuring Turnitin Feedback Studio in Open eClass LTI 1.3 == It takes both the Open eClass admin and the Turnitin admin to complete this integration. If these are two different people, be sure to have them work together so that the integration works. If you would like to test the LTI 1.3 integration in your test or dev environment or you have multiple instances of an LMS, you will need to create a separate Turnitin sub-account for this via turnitin.com or turnitinuk.com. It is important to use different Turnitin accounts for the different environments. **In this guide:**\\ 1. Register your LTI integration in Turnitin 2. Deployment - Create a dummy assignment **Register your LTI integration in Turnitin** The integrations column of your Turnitin administrator account will continue to be listed as “unconfigured” for successful LTI 1.3 configurations. The registration process for LTI 1.3 in Open eClass requires you to follow several steps in sequence. The steps require you to input information from Turnitin into Open eClass, and then fill in several fields in Turnitin with information from Open eClass. 1. If you are part of a global institution, log in into your Turnitin account via turnitin.com. Alternatively, log in to turnitinuk.com if you are part of a UK institution. 2. Ensure that **Administrator** view is enabled from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. If Instructor or Student is selected, please change to Administrator. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn1.jpg?500 |}} 3. An **Unconfigured** or **Configured** button will appear in the **Integrations** column on the administrator homepage. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn2.jpg?500 |}} 4. Select the **LTI 1.3** button to open the configuration page. Unconfigured integrations will have an unlit status button. A yellow status button indicates a partially configured integration. A green status button indicates a fully configured integration. The LTI configuration light won't show as activated on the ** Integration Configuration** screen when you have completed the configuration. However, when you click into the **Configuration Dashboard**, the LTI 1.3 option will be lit green there. 5. Select the **Get Started** button to open the configuration page. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn3.jpg?700 |}} * If you already have a pre-existing registration, select the **Create new registration** button from the registration dashboard. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn4.jpg?700 |}} 6. Choose **Moodle** from the dropdown. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn5.jpg?600 |}} 7. Name your registration. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn6.jpg?600 |}} 8. The information that you will need to copy and paste into Open eClass will auto-populate in the Turnitin Feedback Studio section. Please use the **Copy** button for the relevant field to guarantee it is copied correctly. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn7.jpg?700 |}} 9. While keeping your Turnitin tab open, open a new window or tab, and log in to Open eClass as an administrator. 10. From the administrator dashboard, navigate to **Admin Tool > External Tools > Turnitin > Open eClass Turnitin Settings**. 11. From the List click **Add new TurnItIn (LTI) Tool**. 12. Next, copy the **Tool URL** from turnitin.com and paste it into the **Tool URL** field in Open eClass. You can skip the Description field. 13. Change the LTI version to **LTI 1.3**. 14. From turnitin.com, copy the following three fields: **Tool Public Keyset URL, Initiate login URL**, and **Redirection URI(s)**, and paste them into the corresponding Open eClass fields. \\ {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn8.png?600 |}} 15. For the **Launch container**, choose **Embedded**.\\ 16. For the **Status**, choose **Active**.\\ 17. For the **App Use**, choose **For all courses**, or your desired courses only from the corresponding dropdown menu. 18. Double check that all of the fields have been completed correctly. Then, use the **Add** button to complete this stage of your registration. 19. Your registration will now be shown in the **Turnitin** section of the **External tools** settings. Now we need to transfer some settings from Open eClass over to Turnitin to activate it in Turnitin. 20. Click the **title** or click the **settings** icon for your new registration and select **Display**. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn9.png?600 |}} 21. Data about your registration will appear in a modal box on the screen. Just like copying the information from turnitin.com to Open eClass, you will now need to copy this information directly from Open eClass into the Turnitin tab you should still have open. Fill in the following fields in Turnitin: **Platform ID, Client ID, Public Keyset URL, Access Token URL, and Authentication Request URL**. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn10.png?600 |}} {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn11.jpg?600 |}} 22. Double-check that all of your settings look correct, and then use the Save button to complete your registration. If everything is successful, you'll see a note saying you're 'Nearly there'. The final step is creating a dummy assignment in Open eClass to initialize the integration. == Deployment - Create a dummy assignment == Please note that you cannot have multiple Open eClass environments connected to a single Turnitin account. 1. Navigate to the course you would like to add Turnitin to. 2. Select the **Assignments** section. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn12.jpg?400 |}} 3. Click the **New assignment** button to add a new assignment and choose **TurnItIn** as the **Assignment Type**. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn13.jpg?700 |}} 4. Choose **Select Content**. By choosing this, deep linking is enabled for the assignment. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn14.jpg?700 |}} 5. In the new window, there will be an option to connect your account to Turnitin. Choose **Global** if you are using Turnitin via turnitin.com, choose **UK** if you are using Turnitin via turnitinuk.com. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn15.jpg?500 |}} 6. Enter the email address and password used for the Turnitin account you used to create the registration. We need this to initially authenticate the registration as genuine. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn16.jpg?500 |}} 7. Select the relevant account for this registration using the radio buttons. Use the **Next** button to continue. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn17.jpg?500 |}} 8. Review the content on the confirmation screen. If everything looks correct, select the **Confirm and Complete** button to finish your setup. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn18.jpg?500 |}} 9. Close the modal box. 10. To confirm that Turnitin is working correctly you have to leave this new assignment creation page and restart the process from the beginning for a new assignment, after repeating the above steps, click the **Select Content** button again. 11. If successful, the LTI assignment will load. Fill out the required information, then select **Submit**. {{ :en:admin_en_4_2_turn19.jpg?700 |}} 12. The assignment **Title, Custom parameters, Max Grade, Start Date, Submission deadline, Feedback Release Date** fields are sent to Open eClass from Turnitin and some of them are marked as read-only to facilitate updating them only from the Turnitin environment. Click Submit to create the assignment and return to your course assignments list. 13.You can delete this test assignment if you like.
