This manual describes the technical process of automated question generation in Open eClass (v4.2+) via the integrated AI Engine. As the teacher, you need to select the “Exercises” subsystem, then choose the desired exercise, and subsequently select the exercise actions (gear icon). Proceeding to the pop-up menu, select “Question Management”. (Question Management)
From the displayed question icons, select the gear icon and, from the pop-up menu, select the link “Create questions using AI”. This feature relies on analyzing the input text to extract metadata and convert it into assessment items. (Create questions using AI)
For optimal performance, the input in the content box (text box) should include the learning material followed by specific parameters (directives). For example, if the course topic is “The Solar System”, then as the instructor, you can add the following Prompt: “Create 5 multiple-choice questions about the planets of the solar system. Focus on the distinction between terrestrial planets and gas giants, as well as the unique characteristics of Jupiter and Saturn.” (Prompt Input)
Next, select the number of questions, the difficulty level, and the question types. The process is completed by selecting the “Create questions” link. (Question Options)
The system processes the request and generates a question preview with the correct answers pre-selected. As the instructor, you perform a technical correctness review and select either “Add to Exercise”, “Save to Question Bank”—a process that simultaneously writes the questions to the course's Question Bank database—or “Create new questions”, a process that deletes all suggested questions and restarts the procedure from the beginning. This method minimizes manual entry time and ensures question compatibility with the Open eClass 4.2 platform specifications.
