Open eClass allows the creation of numerical questions where the numbers are variables that take random values from a predefined range. The “Calculation of numerical operations” exercise type in Open eClass is very powerful, as it allows the creation of unique numerical exercises for each student using random values. To create a new “Calculation of numerical operations” type question, first select the “New question” link within an exercise.

In the 'Question' field, enter the text you wish to display for the specific question. Next, select the 'Calculation of numerical operations' type and click the 'Create' link. For example, if we want to calculate the unknown x in the equation 3x - 2 = 2x, we follow these steps:

• In the 'Description' field, write the text we want. In our example, we can write Find the unknown x of the equation 3x - 2 = 2x.
• In the 'Answer type' field, fill in the numerical expression along with the final value of x we are looking for as a result, separated by the colon symbol (:), meaning we write 3x - 2 = 2x:2
• In the 'Score' field, fill in its score.
• Select the 'Edit elements' link.

The process is completed by selecting the 'Submit' link
