Version 4.0 of the Open eClass platform is under development and is scheduled to be released in 2024. It includes extensive design and functionality changes. The main ones are:

• User Interface changes: Design changes to the Front Page, User Portfolio, Course screens, Admin Tools
• Support for widgets
• Connection to external open educational resources (OER) repositories
• Upgrade of external libraries
• Improve support of accessibility standards to AA 2.1 level
• Open Badges support
• Use the Blade template engine
• Upgrade the Bootstrap framework to 5.x
